Simmons Elementary strives to positively impact the future by preparing students to be responsible, hardworking, goal-oriented, and respectful individuals. Our mission is to empower every child to perform at high academic levels of achievement according to measurable educational standards, providing consistent support, focusing on meaningful learning to meet the needs of every student through a safe, caring, and trusting environment.

ENROLLMENT PROCEDURES

State Law requires a child to be five years of age before August 1 to start kindergarten and six years of age to start first grade. If the child has not attended school before, it is mandatory the parent bring proof of birth for the child, most commonly a birth certificate. All students are to have completed a health screening examination before entering school. This examination can be obtained from your family physician or through services provided by the county health department. Information and forms are distributed to students enrolled in kindergarten or may be obtained at your physician’s office or the health department. State Law makes it mandatory for parents to present an immunization certificate that shows the child has been protected per state guidelines. When enrolling your child at Simmons, please bring the following documents to help the registration process go smoothly: Proof of residence (gas, water, or electric bill, deed, lease or property tax bill). Documentation should include residence address, not a P.O. Box number. Certified birth certificate or other valid verification (not a hospital certificate) Valid Kentucky immunization certificate School physical examination form Vision screening Child's Social Secirity card (optional) Evidence of dental screening or examination (kindergarten only)
